Notice of Intent to Claim Super Contributions

From 1 July 2017 it became a requirement to lodge a Notice of Intent to Claim a Deduction for Personal Super Contributions form with your superannuation fund before including a deduction for personal super contributions on your tax return.

If you have made personal super contributions during the current financial year, or intend to do so before 30 June 2019, and want to claim the contribution on your tax return, you will need to complete and submit one of these forms with your superannuation fund before you lodge your 2019 tax return.

You should receive an acknowledgement notice from your super fund that they have received and processed the Intent to Claim form. This notice should be provided for your tax return to ensure your personal super contribution is eligible for a deduction.

You can download a copy of the form from the ATO here

Please note this form is not for super contributions shown as Reportable Employer Superannuation Contributions on your annual PAYG payment summary from your employer, only personal super contributions.

Liability limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation. Liability is limited in those States where a current scheme applies.
